The International Financial Management Association (“IFMA”) began life in 1973 as an affiliate of the US Institute of Management Accountants (“IMA”) and was established for professional education purposes. With 50 people at the outset, the Association grew over the years to more than 200 members, is multi-cultural and has developed partnerships with other locally based Associations and like-minded clubs. The main language is English, although other languages are also often heard at events.

IFMA organizes lunch events with a speaker, evening technical events, CPE (Continuing Professional Education) courses, and social events. Event themes include not only financial and accounting issues, but also themes of more general management and business relevance.Events are principally in Geneva and both members and non-members are welcome to attend.
